Cameron Ford - Canine Cognition Testing

Oct 15-17, 2021

This seminar is based on the research Cameron Ford has conducted with Duke University.

This seminar is for everyone: whether you are a professional looking to enhance how you select dogs, or a nose/scent work handler or trainer trying to understand the dog you have. Learn how cognition testing enhances your knowledge about the dog in front of you. These cognition tests (brain games) will help you learn crucial information such as, if your dog is strong in memory, if he is a problem solver, how quickly he makes inferences, how easily he follows gestural communication, and your dogs laterality. These tests can even help law enforcement agencies and security firms select better, more trainable working K-9s.

Aug 21-22, 2021

This seminar will discuss the concept of using play based training to teach the skills needed for social responsibility.

Participants will learn the several novel ways to use food including the Treat Chase Game, and how to use structured Personal Play. You will learn the Red Light Green Light Game on a retractable leash, as well as Pressure And Release, and a complete system of tactical leash handling skills.
